The Keur Massar research brigade arrested three individuals involved in currency counterfeiting and hard drug trafficking.

This arrest follows a major operation conducted on Sunday, August 24, 2025, in Grand-Yoff. The gendarmes were acting on a source of information reporting "intense trafficking of counterfeit banknotes" in this densely populated district of Dakar.

The effectiveness of the surveillance system led to the arrest of three individuals and revealed the organised nature of this counterfeiting network.

According to Colonel Ibrahima Ndiaye, the suspects are being prosecuted for "criminal conspiracy, manufacturing, counterfeiting and putting into circulation of national and foreign monetary signs that are legal tender and possession and trafficking of hard drugs."

The search carried out at the respective homes of the accused revealed "a large quantity of counterfeit notes, hard drugs and equipment used to manufacture counterfeit notes", including three printers and four HP laptops, 880,000 CFA francs in counterfeit notes in total (300,000 CFA francs and 580,000 in foreign currency), six bags of hard drugs weighing 6 g, a Beverly scooter and a fake weapon.

The investigation continues to dismantle this entire criminal network and identify possible accomplices or sponsors.

The National Gendarmerie reiterates its call for citizen collaboration, inviting people to report "free of charge to the green numbers 123 or 800 00 20 20 any useful information" to effectively continue the fight against these scourges.
