DTN : succession de Mayacine Mar, le choix divise
The succession of Mayacine Mar as head of the National Technical Directorate (DTN) of Senegalese football has taken a controversial turn. This Monday, the Executive Committee (Comex) of the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) proposed Souleymane Diallo as his successor, but this choice is struggling to gain unanimous support.
A local and academic profile
Souleymane Diallo, the current coach of Jaraaf and lecturer at INSEPS, has topped the Federation's shortlist, ahead of Serigne Saliou Dia, Amara Traoré, Abdou Salam Lam, and Bassirou Diaby, reports Les Échos. The same source, reviewing his career, explains that he has won an African Championship title with the U17 team (as assistant coach), a silver medal at the 2025 CHAN with the local Lions, and served as a supervisor at the last AFCON in Morocco.
Reservations about the substance and the form
However, several members of the Executive Committee have expressed serious reservations about this appointment. Reported by the daily newspaper, these grievances focus on three main points:
First, his A License has not yet been validated, unlike those of some of his competitors, which raises a question of "legitimacy" for leading national technical policy. Second, the appointment process is contested: the FSF's Secretary General, Abdoulaye Sow, reportedly announced the choice at the very end of the meeting, just before the breaking of the fast, thus preventing any "substantive debate." Finally, some believe that the coach does not yet possess the necessary "strategic background" to manage major projects, such as coach training and grassroots football development.
