Éboulement meurtrier à AfriGold : Le bilan passe à six morts, les recherches suspendues jusqu’à demain
The tragedy at the AfriGold mining company site, west of the village of Gamba-Gamba (Bembou commune), continues to worsen. Another body has been recovered from the rubble, bringing the provisional death toll from the landslide to six.
This new discovery plunges the families even deeper into distress. Since the accident, relatives, friends, and local residents have remained gathered around the site, hoping for news of their missing loved ones. The already difficult wait is made even more agonizing by the uncertainty surrounding the true number of people still buried.
The search operations, conducted under difficult conditions due to the unstable terrain and the volume of debris, have been suspended for safety reasons. They are expected to resume tomorrow, according to sources on the ground.
This forced pause prolongs the anguish of families, who fear that some of their loved ones may still be trapped under the rubble. The lack of an accurate census of those present at the scene of the disaster further complicates the identification of victims and the assessment of the true extent of the catastrophe.
While the excavations continue, the villages of Gamba-Gamba, Kharakheyna, and the surrounding areas live in a state of sadness and anxiety. The death toll remains provisional and could still rise as the search continues.
