Enfant retrouvé mort à Keur Mbaye Fall : l’« intouchable » suspect placé sous mandat de dépôt deux ans après
More than two years after the tragedy that shook the Keur Mbaye Fall neighborhood, the case of the two children found in a covered car has taken a major turn. According to information from Libération, Lamine Badara Pouye, known as "Badou Pouye," considered the main suspect and owner of the vehicle, was charged and remanded in custody this Thursday for kidnapping, unlawful confinement, and murder.
The events date back to January 2024, the newspaper recounts, when two cousins, C. Fall (4 years old) and I. Dia (5 years old), disappeared for five days. They were eventually found in a covered vehicle parked in front of Lamine Badara Pouye's home. One of the children, C. Fall, was found dead, and the autopsy revealed extreme cruelty; his eyes had been gouged out. His cousin, I. Dia, found in a coma, narrowly survived but has suffered serious aftereffects ever since.
At the time, the newspaper recalls, the suspect was questioned and then released for lack of evidence, and the case was ultimately dismissed, sparking anger and incomprehension among the families. This situation even provoked reprisals against his home, leading to the arrest and imprisonment of some of the victims' relatives following these incidents.
The current development follows a civil suit filed by the families' lawyer, Issa Diaw. This initiative has revived the legal proceedings and led the Prosecutor of the Pikine-Guédiawaye Court, Saliou Dicko, to open a judicial inquiry. For Issa Diaw, there is little doubt that the children were "abducted and held captive." The presiding judge of the First Chamber will now have to shed light on the exact circumstances of this tragedy and the motives behind this act of rare barbarity.
