Fandéne : la gendarmerie démantèle un réseau de voleurs de bétail, quatre suspects arrêtés
Gendarmes from the local brigade in Fandéne, supported by the Thiès Surveillance and Intervention Squadron (ESI), dismantled a cattle rustling ring during a night patrol. Four suspects were taken into custody and three rams were seized, according to Seneweb sources.
It all began during a night patrol when the gendarmes received a report of a suspicious vehicle transporting sheep in the area. A large-scale search was immediately launched, leading to the arrest of four individuals in the village of Sara Badiane: the suspected thief, his driver, his apprentice, and the receiver of stolen goods.
The vehicle and the three battering rams were immediately seized by investigators.
The receiver of stolen goods stated that the alleged thief came to his home around 5 a.m. to sell him two sheep. He nevertheless tried to claim that the third animal belonged to him, a version of events that investigators viewed with skepticism.
The four suspects have been taken into custody. The three rams are being held at the local police station in Fandéne, under the jurisdiction of the Thiès gendarmerie company, pending the identification of their rightful owners.
