Fatick : Le G7 hausse le ton et met la pression sur l'Etat pour éviter une nouvelle crise scolaire
On strike since Tuesday, the G7 unions held a press conference at the Coumba Ndofféne Diouf high school in Fatick. During the conference, the union members warned the government and demanded swift responses to their demands to prevent further disruptions in schools.
According to the national secretary general of SAEMS, El Hadji Malick Youm, "a resumption of disruptions in the education sector would be a poor scenario for the stability of the current year."
The G7 also observed a work stoppage on Tuesday, followed by a general strike, to denounce the delay in the payment of salaries for contract teachers as well as the precarious situation of decision-making teachers.
“Our first step, at the beginning of the year, was an alert plan decreed in October. Today, we are moving to a new phase with the implementation of a control action plan,” explained Mr. Youm.
He finally called on the government to preserve the "calm" observed in recent months in the education sector, believing it to be essential for social progress.
