Fatick : un récidiviste tente de poignarder sa sœur et ses neveux... pour 200 000 F CFA
PA Mbow, 27, was brought before the Fatick prosecutor's office on Tuesday for making death threats with a bladed weapon. According to Libération, he is accused of attempting to attack his sister, brother-in-law, and nephews following a violent dispute over a family inheritance.
The events reportedly took place on the night of May 31, according to the same source. Armed with a knife, the suspect allegedly went to the home of his sister, F. Diassé, and attempted to force his way in. Faced with the threat, she barricaded herself in a bedroom with her husband and children while she called for help. By the time the officers from the Criminal Investigation Brigade arrived, the suspect had fled, but was quickly apprehended in the neighborhood, still in possession of the knife.
The dispute reportedly stemmed from a claim by the young man over 200,000 CFA francs from his sister, believing it to be an investment made by their late mother in the family home. Although the money was handed over by the brother-in-law, a disagreement arose over the signing of a release form, further escalating tensions.
Despite his denials, the newspaper reports, the evidence gathered during the investigation has established his responsibility. Libération also specifies that the accused is already known to the justice system, having been sentenced in 2021 to one month in prison for assault and battery.
