Fête du 4 avril : Saint-Louis prépare un défilé grandiose

While Thiès has been chosen to officially host the parade for the 66th edition of Senegal's Independence Day celebrations, Saint-Louis also intends to mark the event in grand style. The three-hundred-year-old city is actively mobilizing under the leadership of the national army to celebrate, with fervor and solemnity, the country's accession to national sovereignty.

In this context, the commander of military zone no. 2, Colonel Alioune Samassa, met with the press to outline the event's organization. The objective is clear: to offer a comprehensive and unifying program worthy of this historic event.

Placed under the theme "The Defense and Security Forces, partners of the Youth Olympic Games, Dakar 2026", this edition highlights the strategic role of the defense and security forces in supporting major international events, particularly the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games.

The festivities will begin on April 1st with a football tournament at the Mawade Wade Stadium. This competition will bring together various branches of the armed forces as well as prefectural services, in a spirit of cohesion and fraternity. Friday, April 3rd, will be marked by the traditional torchlight procession, a symbolic moment eagerly awaited by the local population.

The highlight of the celebrations will take place on Saturday, April 4th, with the grand parade on President Macky Sall Avenue. Armed forces, paramilitary units, students, and civil organizations will march before the authorities and the large crowds of residents.

Finally, the day will end in style with a naval parade organized at the Henry Jay quay, offering a unique spectacle on the waters of the Senegal River.

Through this ambitious program, Saint-Louis confirms its desire to celebrate independence in unity, pride and tradition, while looking ahead to the major challenges to come.

Tout va bien au Sénégal. On gagne la CAN, bientôt les JOJ, les finances publiques sont en bonne santé. Donc oui, on peut dépenser de l'argent comme on veut.
