Fête du Travail : Les comptables des matières exigent une revalorisation immédiate
The Collective of Materials Accountants of Senegal directly appeals to the President of the Republic and the Prime Minister on a situation which it describes as a “50-year-old injustice”, calling for an urgent reform of their compensation system.
In a statement released this Wednesday, April 29, the group denounces a contradiction. "In 50 years, our responsibilities and risks have multiplied. Our compensation hasn't changed," they lament. This comes as Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko, in a circular dated August 2024, emphasized that "without strict adherence to inventory accounting, no rationalization of state assets is possible."
According to them, this situation poses major risks for the public administration, including "the demotivation of those who protect public assets", "the brain drain towards more highly regarded positions" and "the weakening of the entire heritage governance chain".
The group is therefore advocating for equal treatment with public financial accountants. The inventory accountants are thus requesting "the repeal of decree no. 75-1110 of November 11, 1975 and its replacement," "the establishment of a specific responsibility allowance for inventory accountants," and "the adjustment of this allowance according to the volume of assets managed and the level of responsibility, as is the case for other auditing bodies."
Omar Dramé, the spokesperson for the collective, warns against a refusal of a revaluation which, according to him, would be synonymous with "a weakening of the reform that the State is carrying out".
The Collective of Materials Accountants makes these demands on the eve of International Workers' Day scheduled for this Friday, May 1, 2026.
