Fête travail à Saint-Louis : les travailleurs de la justice optent pour une approche scientifique

Saint-Louis celebrated International Workers' Day today in an atmosphere that was both festive and reflective. This year, those working in the legal sector chose to think outside the box by adopting a scientific approach focused on digitalization, artificial intelligence, and teleworking.

Led by unions in the sector, including SYTJUST, UNTJ, and SYBTHES/Justice, justice workers in the northern region organized a panel discussion focused on the contemporary challenges facing the public justice system. The meeting, moderated by the president of the labor court, Félicien Mboundor Sagne, highlighted the profound changes occurring within the judicial administration in the face of technological advancements.

At the heart of the discussions was the need for a more accessible, transparent, and citizen-friendly justice system. Participants identified digitalization as an essential tool for bringing the judicial system closer to those seeking justice and improving the efficiency of services.

Speaking to the press, union representative Mamadou Ndiaye emphasized the inclusive nature of the celebration, which brought together the entire judicial system: judges, court clerks, lawyers, bailiffs, notaries, interpreters, archivists, and support staff. According to him, the choice of a scientific panel reflects a desire to anticipate ongoing transformations, particularly the emergence of artificial intelligence and the development of teleworking, in line with the objectives of the New Deal for Technology advocated by the country's authorities.

He also highlighted the initiatives already underway in Saint-Louis, such as the creation of digital platforms at the courthouse, the gradual digitization of court registries and offices, as well as the prospects for a complete computerization of the local judicial system.

Lawyers and notaries are increasingly using digital documents and tools in their daily practice, illustrating a transition already underway towards modern justice.

However, this transformation must not come at the expense of fundamental rights. Justice workers intend to reconcile technological innovation with respect for essential principles in order to guarantee a fair and efficient public service.

Through this celebration, the judicial actors of Saint-Louis reaffirm their commitment to supporting the modernization of the administration, with the ambition of a justice system that is closer to the citizen, more efficient and resolutely focused on the future.
