Fille de 13 ans violée puis tuée : deux suspects arrêtés, l’un a été piégé par son mensonge
The investigation into the death of Marie Diouf, the 13-year-old girl whose body was found in an abandoned building in Warang, has reached a turning point. The Mbour Criminal Investigation Unit, which is handling the case, has arrested two suspects. They have been taken into custody on charges of rape and murder.
"The first is none other than the manager of the shop where the young girl had been sent to buy tea," reports Libération. "He is completely overwhelmed by a body of incriminating evidence which establishes that Marie Diouf was raped and killed in the shop."
The second suspect is a "jakartaman," the newspaper reports. He was caught in a lie in his testimony, given when the victim's disappearance was discovered and the search was launched. He had stated that he saw Marie Diouf enter and later leave the shop, whereas initial findings indicate that the teenager did not leave the store alive.
Worse still, Libération points out, the "jamartaman" had added that he did not linger near the shop "however, the telephone requisitions established that he stayed longer than said on the premises, and that he even returned there".
"For the police, the duo is heavily involved. It remains to be seen what level of involvement each of them has," reports the daily newspaper, adding that the two men have not yet admitted to the charges against them.
Marie Diouf was sent to the shop for tea by her uncle. She was found dead the next day in an abandoned building. According to Libération, the findings on her body, which bore traces of injuries and semen, suggest that the victim was raped and then killed.
