Fonds d’appui à la presse : l’URAC défend la transparence et le respect strict des critères
The president of the Union of Community and Association Radios (URAC), Talle Dieng, provided details on the process of allocating public subsidies to the press, insisting on the "scrupulous" respect for the criteria set by the decree in force.
According to him, "no press body that submitted a complete file conforming to the criteria was excluded," he said on the sidelines of the publication of the 2025 management report of the press support and development fund (FADP), this Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at the President Mamadou Dia Administrative Building.
According to him, all structures that met the requirements did indeed receive support.
Talle Dieng acknowledges, however, that some media outlets were not selected. He attributes these cases to administrative shortcomings, including "missing documents, such as registration with the CNRA or the absence of a bank account." These deficiencies, he says, justify their exclusion from the process.
The president of URAC also emphasized that, "this time, the umbrella organizations, in accordance with the decree, did not receive [the applications]," indicating a more rigorous application of the regulations. He insisted: "the decree remained the sole guiding principle" in the evaluation of applications.
Speaking on behalf of community radio stations, he assures that "all those who applied have received," thus reaffirming the regularity of the process for this category of media.
Finally, Talle Dieng called for a change in behavior among those involved in the sector, pointing to a tendency to submit applications late. "Senegalese people often act at the last minute, and we need to make a conscious effort to correct this," he stated.
