Gamou annuel de Médina Souane : Le khalife préoccupé par les dérives verbales
The annual Gamou of Medina Souané, in the Sédhiou department, took on a highly reflective dimension this year, under the guidance of religious leader Mohamed Salif Souané. Commemorating the passing of the founder of this blessed city, the event unfolded against a backdrop of social concern, marked by an alarming rise in verbal violence and behaviors that violate human dignity.
Faced with the distancing from fundamental Islamic principles and the irresponsible use of social networks, the theme "Building the future with faith, responsibility and solidarity" resonated as a call for national awakening.
For the religious leader, the current crisis is primarily spiritual. He believes that faith is the first line of defense against moral decay and that its weakening inevitably undermines brotherhood.
According to the holy man, without spiritual grounding, words become hurtful and actions unjust, thus threatening social cohesion. He also called on the community of faithful from all over Casamance and neighboring countries to show solidarity, an essential cement for restoring ties between citizens and preserving the heritage of the ancients.
During the official ceremony presided over by the governor of Sédhiou, the caliph, through his spokesperson, recalled that "the reconstruction of our society requires deep meditation and a return to the values of respect and dignity advocated by Islam."
