Guémédjié : Le Secteur frontalier de Moussala démantèle une drague sur les berges de la Falémé
As part of border security and the strict application of regulations in force, elements of the Moussala border sector, attached to the Directorate of Border Police, carried out an operation along the border edge of Guémédjié.
Regulations prohibit all exploration and processing of mining sand within a radius of five hundred meters (500 m) around the river. It was within this context that a dredge was dismantled and destroyed in Doguiba, on the bank of the Falémé River.
This intervention was welcomed with satisfaction by the local populations, who unanimously praised the action of the authorities.
These groups see the increase in such operations as a sign of the state's commitment to protecting the environment and streamlining mining in the area. They nevertheless hope that these operations will become permanent in order to permanently remove these harmful activities from the ecosystem.
