In a post published on Monday, October 6, MP Guy Marius Sagna expressed his solidarity with the workers at the Radisson Hotel in Diamniadio, who have been on strike for several weeks. The parliamentarian accused the hotel's Turkish management of "harassment, racism, and violations of workers' rights, which have been elevated to management style."
According to him, "management is behaving as if the hotel were a plantation and the workers were slaves." The MP also denounced the direction taken by management, accusing it of transforming the Radisson Diamniadio into a mere relay for the benefit of another establishment in the chain, the Courtyard Diamniadio. "The State of Senegal should never have entrusted the management of the Radisson to a management that already owns another hotel nearby," he argued.
However, GMS praised the "corporate patriotism" of the strikers who, despite their difficulties, did not disrupt the gathering of the Football Lions at the hotel.
As a reminder, Radisson workers have been on strike for 22 days. They are demanding payment of two months of unpaid wages and are contesting 123 dismissals they consider unfair.
