Incidents en marge de la finale de la CAN-2025 : La communauté marocaine au Sénégal appelle à l’apaisement
During the Africa Cup of Nations final between Morocco and Senegal, regrettable incidents were reported, affecting some members of the Moroccan community living in Senegal. This situation prompted a reaction from the Collective of Moroccan Doctors in Senegal (CMMS) and the League of Moroccan Students in Senegal (LEMS). In a joint statement, the two organizations expressed their concerns.
"The Collective of Moroccan Doctors in Senegal and the League of Moroccan Students in Senegal strongly condemn any act of violence, provocation or stigmatization from whatever source. Sport, and in particular football, must remain a vehicle for fraternity, mutual respect and rapprochement between peoples and can in no way justify excesses or hostile behavior," the statement reads.
The CMMS and the LEMS also emphasized the strength and long-standing nature of the relations between Morocco and Senegal, which they described as "historical, deep and centuries-old, based on strong spiritual, cultural, human and diplomatic ties".
For both organizations, nothing should weaken these ties based on strong spiritual, cultural, human and diplomatic connections, even after a sporting event of any importance.
"In this regard, we make a solemn appeal for calm, restraint and a sense of responsibility on both sides, and invite all Moroccan and Senegalese communities to preserve the spirit of fraternity and peaceful coexistence that has always characterized our two brotherly peoples," they urge.
Furthermore, the Collective of Moroccan Doctors in Senegal and the League of Moroccan Students in Senegal urge the Senegalese National Police and the competent authorities to take all necessary measures to guarantee the safety of people and property, protect all citizens concerned and fully play their role in mediation in order to avoid any escalation or repetition of such incidents.
Dr. Oussama Bouchti, President of the CMMS, and Dr. Ikbal Lahlimi Alami, President of the LEMS, reaffirm "their unwavering commitment to social peace, living together, and strengthening the bonds of friendship and cooperation between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Senegal. Long live Morocco. Long live Senegal. Long live a united and fraternal Africa."
