Jaxaay : Arrêté avec sept faux billets , un mareyeur dans le viseur du procureur Saliou Dicko
On March 18, 2026, at around 7:40 p.m., shortly before breaking the fast, Modou NDIAYE, 27 years old, fishmonger, residing in Lac Rose, went to Yoro DIALLO's shop to buy a jar of tuna and 500 grams of onions.
He pays for his purchases with a 10,000 CFA franc note and receives his change.
Taking advantage of a moment of inattention, he discreetly replaced the 5,000 CFA franc note of his change with a counterfeit note of the same amount, before pointing out to the shopkeeper that the note he had given him was counterfeit.
Disputing the allegations, Yoro Diallo refused to back down. An altercation broke out between the two men, prompting the shopkeeper to alert the police.
Upon his arrival at the Jaxaay district police station, a security pat-down revealed that Modou NDIAYE was carrying six other counterfeit 5,000 CFA franc notes, according to Seneweb sources.
When questioned about their origin, he stated that he had received them from a certain Matar SAMB, residing in Guédiawaye, as payment for a tailoring service. An investigation has been opened to trace the supply chain.
Prosecutor Saliou Dicko has been informed of the facts. Modou Ndiaye is being prosecuted for possession and attempted circulation of counterfeit banknotes.
