Joal : 510 kg de chanvre indien saisis par la BR de Saly, les trafiquants en fuite
The research brigade (BR) of Saly, under the gendarmerie company of Mbour, made a major seizure of 510 kg of Indian hemp, on the night of March 15, 2026 in Joal, Seneweb learned from Colonel Ibrahima Ndiaye.
The operation followed the exploitation of intelligence indicating the imminent arrival of a large shipment of Indian hemp from Casamance in the town of Joal. Elements of the Saly Criminal Investigation Brigade, supported by the Joal territorial brigade, then set up a surveillance operation.
Around 1 a.m., police caught the traffickers red-handed as they unloaded 17 packages of cannabis weighing a total of 510 kg. The illicit goods were intended for distribution. The traffickers had already mobilized two carts, into which the packages were loaded. But upon seeing the police, they abandoned the cargo and disappeared into the darkness.
In addition to the drugs, a dugout canoe, two Yamaha outboard motors (40 hp and 15 hp), a white horse, two carts, and a basic Tecno cell phone were seized. Investigators are actively seeking the individuals identified.
