Kafountine : 25 candidats à la migration irrégulière, dont 2 enfants, interceptés par la gendarmerie
On August 27, 2025, a pirogue carrying 25 people, including 2 children and 4 women, was intercepted off the coast of Kafountine, in the Bignona department, by the national gendarmerie, according to security sources. This operation is part of the ongoing fight against irregular migration, a persistent scourge in the southern part of Senegal despite awareness-raising and repression efforts. The arrested individuals, of Senegalese and Gambian nationality, were taken into custody on the night of August 27, 2025. They are expected to be presented to the prosecutor in the coming hours, according to our sources.
Investigations are continuing to identify and apprehend the sponsors and organizers of this clandestine journey to Europe. This latest interception highlights the persistence of illegal departures from Kafountine, a notorious departure point for migrants, often from Senegal and neighboring countries such as Gambia. Authorities are intensifying maritime patrols and efforts to dismantle smuggling networks to stem this phenomenon.

Kafountine, une Zone de Pêche naguère florissante qui se meurt et aussi bellement touriste en second plein. Les jeunes préfèrent partir ainsi que les milliers de jeunes africains de la sous région, y compris surtout anglophone : Liberia, Sierra Leone, Ghana et ... Nigériane.
