Kaolack : Lancement officiel du projet EDUPOLSEN pour renforcer le civisme en milieu scolaire
On Monday, April 27, 2026, the National Police officially launched the Senegalese Police Education Project (EDUPOLSEN) at the New High School in Kaolack. This initiative, led by the General Directorate of the National Police in collaboration with the Ministry of National Education, took place in the presence of the city's mayor, Serigne Mboup, and administrative and academic authorities.

For Mamadou Lamine Camara, headmaster of the New High School in Kaolack, the EDUPOLSEN project aims to strengthen relations between the National Police and the community. Schools are thus seen as the ideal setting for this transformation, as they are where future citizens are educated. The idea of "bringing the police to the schools and the schools to the police" forms the foundation of the project.

This initiative aligns with the country's new educational direction. "Today, the focus is on moving from a traditional education system to a truly educational society, where education becomes a community-wide responsibility," it was emphasized during the ceremony. EDUPOLSEN is part of the "NITTHÉ" program (New Initiative for the Humanistic Transformation of Education), which aims to instill civic, cultural, and social values in learners.

Divisional Commissioner Souleymane Ba, head of the regional public security service, emphasized the strategic importance of this program. "These are not simply courtesy visits, but a profound professional commitment," he stated. Specifically, police officers will regularly visit schools to discuss crucial topics with students: respect for national symbols, road safety, prevention of violence in schools, and the adoption of republican values.

Through EDUPOLSEN, the National Police aims to build a lasting relationship of trust with the citizens of tomorrow by focusing on education and community engagement. "We want to transmit a culture of peace, respect, and solidarity. This educational policing approach aims to prevent juvenile delinquency upstream, through dialogue, in order to equip young people with essential protective reflexes," explained Commissioner Ba.

For this pilot phase in the municipality of Kaolack, three establishments were selected: the New High School, the Mboutou Sow private school and the Ngane Saer school.
