A gas cylinder explosion caused panic Sunday afternoon at a refrigerated workshop in the Passoire neighborhood, under the jurisdiction of the Ndorong district police station in Kaolack. Four people were seriously injured and rushed to the Kaolack regional hospital, according to Seneweb sources.

A gas refill turns into a disaster

Around 3 p.m., the Ndorong district police station was informed of an explosion at a refrigerated workshop in Passoire. Officers dispatched to the scene confirmed that it was indeed a gas cylinder explosion. According to information gathered at the scene, the workshop owner, A. Bitéye, was refilling a refrigerator's gas cylinder when it suddenly exploded, seriously injuring four people present in the workshop.

The four victims

The injured have been identified as follows.

A. Bitéye, 45 years old, refrigeration technician and workshop owner, residing in Kanda. AB, 16 years old, refrigeration apprentice, residing in Kanda. M. Diassé, 19 years old, refrigeration apprentice. And finally, M. Sylla, 26 years old, merchant, residing in Thioffack.

The four victims were taken care of by the firefighters and evacuated to the Kaolack regional hospital to receive the necessary care.

An investigation has been opened

The workshop owner and the other victims were asked to report to the department headquarters as soon as they recovered for the purposes of the investigation. The public prosecutor has been notified and an investigation has been opened to determine the exact circumstances of the explosion.
