Kédougou : 30,5 kg de chanvre indien saisis à Bantaco, un trafiquant en fuite abandonne sa moto
A major operation against drug trafficking was carried out this morning by members of the Research Section (SR) of Kédougou on the Bantaco road, resulting in the seizure of 30.5 kg of Indian hemp.
The operation took place around 6 a.m., as part of a surveillance and security mission in this area, which is regularly targeted by illegal activities. According to initial reports, the suspect, who was transporting the contraband on a motorcycle, fled after spotting law enforcement officers in the distance.
Surprised by the presence of the investigators, he reportedly immediately abandoned his vehicle before disappearing into the wilderness, leaving behind a cargo consisting of 39 carefully packaged blocks of Indian hemp.
The officers also impounded the Jakarta motorcycle used to transport the drugs.
This seizure demonstrates the heightened vigilance of security units in the Kédougou region, particularly on routes considered sensitive for drug trafficking. An investigation has been launched to identify and apprehend the owner of the merchandise as well as any accomplices.
Security authorities reaffirm their determination to intensify the fight against drug trafficking networks, with the aim of preserving the safety of the population and curbing the circulation of illicit substances in this strategic area.
