Kédougou : La DNLT arrête une Nigériane qui obligeait une fille à se prostituer pour rembourser 1,5 million F CFA
The regional branch of the National Division for the Fight against Trafficking in Persons (DNLT) in Kédougou has arrested Onome Julie Douglas, alias Aïcha, a Nigerian national, accused of criminal conspiracy, complicity in forgery and human trafficking.
According to the investigation, the suspect allegedly brought a compatriot, Blessing John, from Nigeria, promising her a job as a hairdresser or waitress in Senegal. However, once she arrived in Kédougou, the girl was forced into prostitution and ordered to repay 1.5 million CFA francs, the amount her recruiter claimed to have invested in her trip.
Blessing John confirmed that she was a victim of sexual exploitation. She also revealed that she was subjected to an oath ritual intended to prevent her from reporting her exploitative behavior and to force her to fully repay the imposed debt. Since her arrival, she had already paid 800,000 CFA francs to Onome Julie Douglas, according to Seneweb sources close to the prosecution.
Arrested in Bambaranding (Kédougou), the suspect denied the accusations, claiming to have no connection with the victim. The investigation, however, revealed the existence of a transnational trafficking network operating in Nigeria, Benin, Mali, and Senegal, of which she is believed to be a key member.
Onome Julie Douglas was brought before the Public Prosecutor at the High Court of Kédougou last Friday. The victim was taken to the reception center run by the NGO "La Lumière" for psychosocial and legal support.
This raid is the result of the exploitation of information received by the police officers of this unit of the Air and Border Police Directorate (DPAF).
