The Research Brigade (BR) of the Keur Massar Gendarmerie Company has achieved a major success by putting an end to the activities of a criminal network operating under the cover of the company Qnet Infinity Millennials.
The operation led to the arrest of four officials, including two women, on October 28.
They are being prosecuted for criminal association, fraud involving public savings and illegally opening an establishment without administrative authorization, according to Seneweb sources.
The individuals arrested are Mr. Guèye (born in 1990), Mr. Thiaw (born in 1992), C. Dramé (born in 1997) and S. Wane (born in 1994). All worked in commerce and presented themselves as "leaders" of the Qnet Infinity Millennials structure.
A well-organized network
It all started with a tip-off from investigators in the Research Brigade. They discovered a well-structured network, based in Keur Massar, using a digital platform to lure its victims—often young foreigners—under the pretext of offering them a job or a career opportunity.
The recruiters demanded sums between 600,000 and 900,000 CFA francs to supposedly join the company.
In reality, new members were pressured to buy various products such as Sipandant, Olé coffee or bio disc, in the hope of then being trained in a center presented as a professional establishment, but totally clandestine and without any legal authorization.
A house converted into a dormitory and classroom
The on-site investigation revealed to the police that the site was being used as both a dormitory and a training room. Four "leaders" were caught in the act of meeting with the victims. The victims, nine boys and thirteen girls, all Senegalese nationals, were questioned and then released.
The search also resulted in the seizure of office equipment, falsified administrative documents and commercial products linked to the group's fraudulent activities.
The four individuals involved, who have been in police custody since October 28, were brought before the judicial authorities on Thursday to answer for their actions.
Under the leadership of Colonel Malick Faye, the Dakar Gendarmerie Legion reaffirms its determination to relentlessly pursue the fight against organized crime and urban delinquency in the Dakar region.
