Kolda - Accès à la santé et aux infrastructures : Le président Diomaye s’engage contre les inégalités
On an economic tour of the Kolda region, Head of State Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye reaffirmed his commitment to reducing territorial inequalities by bringing essential services closer to the people.
In Medina Yoro Foulah, he laid the foundation stone for a new health center intended to serve more than 185,000 residents. This modern facility, planned on a 2-hectare site with a capacity of 35 beds, will include a maternity ward, an operating theater, an emergency room, and a laboratory. Construction is expected to take 18 months.
The Head of State also visited two major infrastructure projects: the Fouladou loop (102.5 km of roads) and the Fafacourou-Dabo-Coumbacara power line. These investments aim to open up the region, improve access to basic services, and stimulate the local economy.
On the economic front, an agro-industrial peanut processing plant, spearheaded by Sonacos, will be established in Medina Yoro Foulah at a cost of 18.75 billion CFA francs. It is expected to generate up to 1,500 jobs in the long term and strengthen the local processing of agricultural products.
Finally, during a meeting with local elected officials, President Faye acknowledged the budgetary constraints while assuring that the priorities in terms of health, roads and electrification will be progressively addressed.
