Kolda : la fête patronale du 26ᵉ BRA, un symbole fort du lien Armée-Nation
The Moussa Molo Baldé camp in Kolda served as the venue yesterday, Friday, for the celebration of the patron saint's day of the 26th Reconnaissance and Support Battalion (BRA). Beyond the military nature of the event, this 11th edition was distinguished by its strong symbolic significance, illustrating the strength of the Army-Nation bond in the Fouladou region.
Presided over by Lieutenant Colonel Magatte Sène, Deputy Operations Officer for Military Zone No. 6, the ceremony brought together administrative authorities, local elected officials, community leaders, and a large segment of the population. This turnout demonstrates the army's deep roots within the local communities.
In a context where collaboration between defense forces and civilian populations remains essential, this patron saint's festival offered a privileged setting for rapprochement. It allowed for a move beyond the strictly military framework to embrace a dynamic of sharing, dialogue, and mutual trust.
The various activities included in the program helped to strengthen this connection. The military ceremony and wreath-laying in tribute to the fallen served as a reminder of the sacrifices made by the armed forces for the safety of citizens. The military parade and demonstrations of expertise, for their part, allowed the public to gain a better understanding of the battalion's missions and operational capabilities.
But it was above all through cultural performances that the Army-Nation concept took on its full dimension. The dances and artistic expressions of the different local communities created a space for communion, where military personnel and civilians shared a common moment of identity and collective pride.
