La caravane ramadan 2026 des Douanes sénégalaises accueillie à Koki
Koki, the second stop on the 2026 Ramadan caravan of the Senegalese Customs, welcomed, on Friday, February 27, 2026, the delegation from the General Directorate of Customs (DGD) led by the Head of the Communication and Public Relations Division (DCRP), Lieutenant-Colonel Mouhamed NIANG.
In this city of knowledge which embodies the spread of Islamic science in Senegal and whose Islamic Centre has more than 4500 students, the General Directorate of Customs wanted to participate in the wave of national solidarity in favor of this internationally renowned institution.
Accompanied by the Head of the Louga Customs Subdivision, Commander Nicolas GOMIS, Lieutenant-Colonel Mouhamed NIANG was received by the Khalif of Koki, Serigne Makhtar Nar LÔ, surrounded by dignitaries of the family of the founder of the Daara of Koki, Serigne Ahmadou Sakhir LÔ.
In his speech, the Head of the DCRP, on behalf of the Director General of Customs, praised the contribution of the Daara of Koki in the dissemination of knowledge in Senegal and beyond our borders.
This important project deserves the support and assistance of all Senegalese people. That is why the customs authority took the opportunity of the blessed month of Ramadan to contribute to the Customs Administration, explained Lieutenant-Colonel Mouhamed Niang.
He then presented the main missions of the customs service to the Khalif, emphasizing that they all contribute to the security and well-being of the population. He took the opportunity to request support from the religious leaders of Koki for the work of the public customs service, through sermons and mass awareness campaigns.
The Head of the Louga Customs Subdivision, the first to speak, said he was honored to make the trip to Koki as an immediate customs neighbor of the locality which he plans, moreover, to visit regularly, in accordance with the instructions of the customs authority.
Commander Nicolas Gomis then expressed his willingness to cooperate with the religious community of Koki, stating that the doors of the Subdivision were open to them for mutually beneficial collaboration. This was "because religious leaders are known to be true social regulators," explained Commander Gomis.
The delegation from the Directorate General was subsequently treated to what could be considered a masterclass on the importance of customs action, delivered by Baye Fallou LÔ, the younger brother of the Khalif.
Indeed, drawing a connection between customs operations and religious education, the marabout explained that customs officers are entrusted with a mission as important as that of an imam, as both act for the good of society. Following his presentation, the Khalif expressed his complete satisfaction with the Director General of Customs and offered prayers for all customs personnel.
The DGD delegation and the notables then proceeded to the symbolic handover of the donation intended for the residents before taking a guided tour of the Daara and its dependencies.
