La CJRS condamne l’agression des journalistes par le maire Bilal Diatta lors d’un déguerpissement
The Senegalese Young Reporters' Convention (CJRS) issued a statement this Saturday strongly condemning the unacceptable treatment meted out by the mayor of Keur Massar Sud, Mouhamed Bilal Diatta, and his agents to a team of journalists who had come to cover an eviction. This incident, which occurred on September 28, the International Day for Universal Access to Information, represents a serious attack on press freedom and the right of citizens to be informed.
In its press release, the CJRS expressed its full solidarity with the victims: "The CJRS expresses its full solidarity with the victims, and is at their disposal for any medical or legal assistance." It described the event as a "sad incident" and reaffirmed its commitment: "The CJRS remains mobilized to defend press freedom and the dignity of journalists."
