La Confidence et les vérités du Pr. Diomaye : «Je suis passé de présumé terroriste à…»
In receiving the "ambassadors of peace," President Bassirou Diomaye Faye spoke about the need to preserve calm and peace in the country. He described this as a duty incumbent upon every citizen, beginning with himself, who had sworn an oath to uphold this principle.
"I haven't had time for emotional recovery. Because in ten days, I went from being a suspected terrorist to being responsible for peace and social cohesion," the head of state told Professor Babacar Guèye, Me Boucounta Diallo, Dr. Haoua Dia Thiam and others.
For him, such a situation and such timing leave no room for emotions to subside, especially the anger over his imprisonment. Because, just after his ten-day campaign, he vowed to preserve peace.
"So, after taking the oath, you cannot go back and seek out those who have wronged you. By doing so, you stray from your oath and resort to reprisals. And the oath is the most important thing," the head of state added to his guests on Thursday.
And it is in this spirit, he said, that he established the dialogue, not only to formalize consensus, but also to identify the causes of conflicts and work to prevent them. "That is why dialogue is important. And we will sustain it in all its forms," he assured.
