La fille de 15 ans et le marabout : «Il m’a violée sept fois»
The case broke in Touba in November 2024 when a widowed teacher entrusted her 15-year-old daughter to SS Guèye to treat her nightmares after her father's death, paying 50,000 CFA francs. Today, according to a detailed account by L'Observateur, the trial of this 32-year-old marabout and healer, charged with rape and pedophilia, has been postponed until July 28 by the Diourbel Criminal Court. This abrupt postponement was ordered following a particularly heated exchange between the judge and the defense attorney, Cheikh Ngom, who was ultimately prevented from speaking.
In court, the young victim, a primary school student, recounted the details of her ordeal. She revealed that she initially resisted the healer's persistent advances: "He made advances towards me, but I refused them all." However, she explained that she fell under his influence after a mystical treatment: "From the day I bathed in his potion, I went to his house to submit to the sexual acts he forced upon me. He raped me a total of seven times." The teenager added that during the second assault, she had "bled heavily," specifying that she had hidden the situation from her mother out of sheer terror before confiding in her aunt. A medical certificate attesting to the tears and loss of her hymen corroborated her testimony.
Faced with these damning accusations, the accused defended himself by crying conspiracy: "This whole cabal was orchestrated against me by S. Diop." While he categorically denied the rape, he nevertheless admitted to a strong attraction to the minor, declaring to the court that he had feelings for her from the very first day and that he wanted to marry her. To justify any physical contact, he confessed: "I only kissed her once, when we were taking a selfie. I don't know where or how she lost her virginity, but I'm not guilty."
The prosecutor immediately attacked this line of defense, confronting the defendant with his own confession from the preliminary investigation, in which he admitted to having had sex with the girl, claiming she was no longer a virgin at the time of their first encounter. This scandal is once again shaking the region, just weeks after a Quranic teacher was sentenced to 20 years in prison for abusing 28 minors, the same source notes.
