La police démantèle un réseau de trafic d'huile alimentaire dangereux à Thiaroye
A large-scale network trafficking dangerous food products was dismantled this Saturday, May 2, 2026, in Thiaroye by officers from the local police station. Following a precise operational tip, members of the Criminal Investigation Brigade conducted a raid near the Djiddah Thiaroye Kao middle school, where they caught five individuals in the act of illegally unloading goods.
At the scene, police intercepted a truck transporting eight 1,000-liter tanks of oil. The product, whose appearance and odor raised serious doubts about its edibility, was being transferred into 20-liter containers. This makeshift repackaging was intended to facilitate the rapid sale of the stock in local markets and neighborhood shops.
According to initial statements gathered by investigators, the alleged owner of the merchandise acquired this dubious stock for 3,000,000 FCFA. To carry out his fraudulent scheme, he benefited from the complicity of a security guard for secure storage on the premises, as well as cart drivers responsible for distribution. The exact origin and sanitary quality of this oil remain, at this stage, completely unknown.
Law enforcement seized all the equipment, including the transport vehicle and 8,000 liters of oil. The five suspects were taken into custody on charges of conspiracy, trafficking in contaminated food products, and endangering the lives of others. The investigation is actively continuing to trace the supply chain, determine the true origin of the product, and identify any other accomplices in this network that directly threatened consumer health.
