Senegal made its mark on the 13th edition of AFRAVIH 2026, held from May 4 to 7 in Lausanne, with the acceptance of the 11 scientific abstracts presented by the CONTINIUS-PV project to the conference's scientific committee.

This international scientific recognition validates the work carried out around innovative community approaches in HIV care, continuity of care, decentralization of health services and improved access to care for vulnerable populations.

The accepted abstracts highlighted the progress made in Senegal in community-based care for people living with HIV, as well as the strategies developed to bring health services closer to communities. The presented work also illustrated the importance of community involvement in strengthening the health system and improving patient follow-up.

Alongside this scientific achievement, the CONTINIUS-PV project was also awarded the prize for the poster with the greatest clinical, community and public health impact thanks to the work entitled: "The CONTINIUS-PV project: a model of community involvement in the decentralization of care".

The AFRAVIH conference brought together researchers, doctors, community organizations, technical partners and public decision-makers committed to the fight against HIV, infectious diseases and public health issues in the Francophone world.

The CONTINIUS-PV project is being developed by a consortium made up of the Regional Research and Training Centre for Clinical Care (CRCF) of Fann, Solthis Senegal, Plan International and the National Network of People Living with HIV (RNP+), with financial support from Expertise France.

Through this remarkable participation in AFRAVIH 2026, Senegal confirms its place among the actors committed to community innovation in public health and in the fight against HIV in Francophone Africa.
