Le marabout aux "bouteilles mystiques " tombe pour escroquerie de plus de 25 millions F CFA
S. Nd. Seck, a marabout from Pakala, a village in the commune of Saly Escale (Koungheul department), was arrested by the Nganda gendarmerie. With a large following on social media, particularly TikTok, he is suspected of having defrauded a Dakar-based merchant of over 25 million CFA francs.
According to initial findings of the investigation, the alleged victim, A. Fall, was put in contact with the marabout through a friend. The marabout reportedly first demanded a transfer of 350,000 CFA francs, before requesting further payments. Between November 7 and 26, 2024, the businessman allegedly sent a total of over 25 million CFA francs to S. Nd. Seck.
According to A. Fall's statements, the health problems he allegedly experienced after using "mystical bottles" provided by the marabout forced him to continue making payments, fearing for his life. He even admitted to considering taking out a loan of 15 million CFA francs to meet S. Nd. Seck's new demands.
Alerted, the Nganda brigade contacted the Dakar gendarmerie's research section, which led to the arrest of the marabout after several attempts. Aged 35, married, and without children, S. Nd. Seck was taken into custody before being transferred to pretrial detention.
The investigation is continuing to assess the extent of the alleged fraud and to identify any other potential victims.
