Linguère : 22 arrestations pour homosexualité, le maire Aly Ngouille Ndiaye brise le silence
The alleged homosexuality case in Linguère, which led to the arrest of 22 suspects, continues to provoke strong reactions. Following the vehement statements made by religious leaders on local radio stations, it is now the turn of the town's mayor, Aly Ngouille Ndiaye, to speak out. The mayor convened the police, the administration, and all community stakeholders at the Thiély Sud Grand Mosque to raise awareness among young people and implement a communication strategy aimed at curbing this phenomenon.
“All the people of Djoloff-Djoloff are shocked to learn that local youth are involved in this phenomenon. Linguère has always been cited as an example for its dignity, courage and perseverance. We will work with all the vital forces of the locality to stem this situation,” stressed Aly Ngouille Ndiaye.
According to the city's mayor, the crisis of values and the lack of education are the main causes of this phenomenon. He therefore called on imams to dedicate their Friday sermons to this issue and to teach religious values to young people, many of whom have lost their way.
“As an authority and mayor, we will face this. It is about conducting effective communication with young people and discussing with all segments of the population to drive this phenomenon out of Djoloff,” Aly Ngouille Ndiaye maintained.
