On May 4, 2021, the world held its breath. In Casablanca, Halima Cissé, then 25 years old, gave birth to nine babies—five girls and four boys—during an extraordinary cesarean section at just 30 weeks of pregnancy. Today, Monday, May 4, 2026, the family celebrates a symbolic milestone: the nonuplets are now 5 years old.
Back in Mali, the children are growing up under the watchful eye of their parents, supported by relatives and nannies to manage a daily life where "everything is multiplied by nine." As their father, Abdel Kader Arby, explains, the organization is almost military: they had to acquire nine identical chairs, install mosquito nets suitable for sleeping, and ensure constant attention to channel the energy of this small group.

Although they share a single history, the nine siblings have very distinct personalities. Their father says with amusement that while some are calm, others, like little Fatuma, are real "fighters" who love to tease the rest of the family. Between watching their favorite cartoons and learning numbers and letters on the walls of their living room, the house constantly echoes with shouts and laughter.
Raising nonuplets remains a significant challenge. The father emphasizes the importance of constant effort in terms of medical monitoring, maintenance, and overall care. Nights are sometimes trying, as the children can stay awake very late, and mealtimes often require the father's presence to encourage the more reluctant ones to eat.
Born prematurely, weighing between 500 grams and 1 kilogram, these nine survivors represent a world medical record. Today, their vitality inspires admiration and recalls the resilience of their mother, who overcame a severe hemorrhage during childbirth. A blessing that the family continues to cherish every day.
