Marché « Séras » de Pikine : il détourne 11,8 millions FCFA et invoque une « attaque mystique »
At the "Séras" market in Pikine, C. Fall, alias Cheikh Babou, manager of a fund grouping 82 members, was arrested and then referred to the prosecutor's office by the Criminal Investigation Division (DIC) for breach of trust.
According to Libération, which relayed the information, the case follows a complaint filed by CT Sall, who claims to have paid 13 million CFA francs into this fund between 2020 and 2023. But when he asked to get his money back, the manager was unable to reimburse him.
When questioned by investigators, the newspaper reports, C. Fall admitted to receiving 12.1 million CFA francs from the plaintiff but only returning 300,000 CFA francs, leaving a balance of 11.8 million. To explain this financial shortfall, he claimed to have been the victim of a "mystical attack" in 2022, when he was preparing to distribute 60 million CFA francs to members of the fund.
During the confrontation, the accused requested a delay in repaying the sum owed to the plaintiff. The same source adds that the manager's criminal record does not work in his favor: he was already sentenced in 2024 to six months in prison, one of which was suspended, for similar breach of trust offenses.
