On the evening of April 13, 2026, a traffic accident near the Les Pédagogues school complex in Mbacké resulted in one serious injury and the arrest of two individuals.
The facts: SKS, 39 years old, driver, residing in Thiès, entrusts his vehicle, a Peugeot 508, to his friend MD, 37 years old, driver, residing in the Guinaw Rails district in Mbacké.
At the wheel of the vehicle, MD struck FD, 20 years old, near the Les Pédagogues school complex. Evacuated by firefighters to the Matlaboul Fawzaini National Hospital in Touba, the victim was diagnosed with an open fracture of his left leg, resulting in a temporary work incapacity of 75 days.
During the investigation, officers from the accident unit of the Mbacké urban police station discovered that MD did not possess a valid driver's license. He only presented a receipt for a new license application dated October 31, 2023.
On April 14, 2026, the two individuals were apprehended and taken into custody. MD was charged with involuntary manslaughter, endangering the lives of others, and driving without a license. SKS, who had knowingly handed over the vehicle, was prosecuted for leasing a vehicle to a third party without a driver's license.
It should be noted that MD had already been referred to the prosecutor's office in 2018 for involuntary injuries caused by a traffic accident.
