Mbour : un chauffeur tente de corrompre des policiers, deux passagères filment et insultent les agents, trois interpellés
A routine check on National Route 1 near Diamaguène 2 quickly escalated Wednesday morning when a driver attempted to bribe police officers while his passengers insulted and filmed them. Three individuals were arrested, according to Seneweb sources.
A routine check-up gone wrong
It all began around 11:40 a.m. when traffic officers from the Diamaguène 2 police station in Mbour stopped a transport vehicle on National Route 1, the Mbour-Kaolack road. Inside were three individuals: ADDiallo, 32 years old, a driver residing in the Médine Extension neighborhood; O.Fall, 56 years old, a housewife residing in Médine; and N.Sène, born on January 27, 2003 in England, a shopkeeper on vacation in Mbour.
The driver tries to bribe the officers
From the outset of the check, driver ADDiallo attempted to bribe the officers in the course of their duties, seeking to evade the ongoing checks. Far from calming the situation, this attempted bribery triggered a chain reaction from his two passengers.
The female passengers get involved: insults and a camera in hand.
O. Fall, visibly dissatisfied with the situation, publicly confronted the driver, demanding reimbursement of the 1,000 CFA franc ticket she had paid him for the transport, before proceeding to insult the officers in the course of carrying out their duties.
Taking advantage of the surrounding disorder, his travel companion N. Sène, the trader born in England and on holiday in Mbour, gets out of the vehicle and starts filming the officers with her mobile phone, thus making herself guilty of illegal collection of personal data.
Three arrests, an investigation opened
In response to these disturbances, officers arrested the three individuals and took them to the police station. ADDiallo is being prosecuted for attempted bribery of a public official in the performance of their duties and illegal collection of personal data. O. Fall and N. Sène are being charged with insulting a public official in the performance of their duties and illegal collection of personal data. The investigation is ongoing, and Prosecutor Augustin Yakhar Faye of the Mbour High Court has been informed of the facts.
