Mbour : une femme deux maris, une incroyable affaire
According to the court report in L'Observateur, Ms. MD Kane appeared before the Mbour Magistrate's Court on Thursday on charges of bigamy. She is accused of having entered into a second marriage in Kaolack while still legally married to the merchant TA Ndiaye. The case file indicates that the defendant left the marital home on December 29, 2025, after only two months of marriage, before secretly remarrying a few weeks later.
Recounting the chronology of this case, the newspaper of the Future Media Group explains that the defendant deserted her home in Mbour at the end of last year. It was at the beginning of January, while taking steps to have his wife return, that TA Ndiaye discovered she had married another man, a revelation that prompted him to immediately file a complaint at the Diamaguène police station.
In court, MD Kane fully admitted to the facts, according to the daily newspaper. To try to justify her actions, she explained to the judge that following an illness and a long stay with her parents in Dakar, she had unilaterally decided to end her first marriage. However, she admitted to the court that she possessed "no official documents" attesting to a formal divorce, arguing that her first husband had not facilitated the necessary procedures.
These explanations were firmly rejected by the plaintiff, the same source continued. The merchant, denouncing his wife's behavior, whom he described as a "gold digger," stated in court that his wife had begun causing him problems barely two weeks after their marriage, solely to get rid of him after she had "spent all the dowry money," which amounted to 500,000 FCFA. Feeling wronged, the plaintiff is now demanding full reimbursement of the dowry as well as damages of an equivalent amount.
Faced with what the prosecution considers to be a "clear case of bigamy", the prosecutor requested the strict application of the law, and L'Observateur concludes by specifying that the court has adjourned the case until July 16.
