The operation was carried out on March 5, 2026, as part of the fight against the sale of counterfeit medicines. Police raided a canteen located opposite the Thiaroye town hall, where an illegal trade in pharmaceutical products was taking place.
During the operation, officers arrested a first suspect, MD, 24, a shopkeeper residing in Keur Mbaye Fall, who was selling the goods. During questioning, he stated that the canteen belonged to his older brother, ID, 31, also a shopkeeper and residing in the same area, who had entrusted him with running the business.
