Mort de l’étudiant Abdoulaye Ba : La réaction de Barthélémy Dias
Former Dakar mayor Barthélémy Dias denounced the silence and contempt of the state following the tragedy that occurred this Monday at Cheikh Anta Diop University of Dakar (UCAD). While on a tour of the Fouta region, he stated that he learned "with immense sadness of the tragic death of a student." "I respectfully bow before his memory and offer my sincerest condolences to his family, his classmates, and the entire university community. This tragedy is the result of a known problem, identified and willfully ignored by the state: the failure to properly pay student stipends," he declared.
Barthélémy Dias points out that "for months, students have been raising the alarm." "They are protesting. They are simply demanding what is rightfully theirs to study and live with dignity. The regime has chosen silence, contempt, and administrative brutality," he emphasizes.
Better still, he states: "A few weeks ago, I publicly raised the alarm through a video, calling for urgent, responsible and humane management of the stock market crisis."
“Nothing has been done. Today, the accumulated anger, social distress and abandonment have led to the irreparable,” suggested the leader of the Senegal Bi Nu Bokk party.
