Ndiassane : Une bande d'agresseurs emporte 28 moutons de race en pleine nuit
Despite instructions from the highest authorities to strengthen security measures in the fight against cattle rustling, the phenomenon is on the rise in Thiès and its surrounding areas. These recurring crimes, particularly worrying as the holidays approach, are multiplying with hundreds of head of cattle stolen, exacerbating the sense of insecurity among herders and causing significant economic losses.
In the early hours of Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at approximately 2:00 AM, the residents of Chérif Moulaye, a village in the commune of Chérif Lô located in the district of Ndiassane (Department of Tivaouane), received an unwelcome visit from a group of assailants. The assailants managed to steal 28 purebred sheep.
Alerted quickly, the officers of Commander Thior's Ndiassane Gendarmerie Brigade immediately gave chase. It wasn't until around 4:00 a.m., near Touba-Toul (Khombole), that the gendarmes discovered about twenty animals abandoned on the road by the fleeing criminals.
However, the assailants, who remain at large, managed to escape, taking eight rams with them. The search continues to apprehend this gang that is terrorizing the area.
