Ndiaye Bopp (Tivaouane) : Mort par électrocution d'un quinquagénaire dans un champ
A fifty-year-old man was killed by electrocution on Saturday in a field in the village of Ndiaye Bopp, in the commune of Mont-Rolland (Tivaouane department).
According to witnesses, the 55-year-old man was electrocuted in his own field by underground cables used to power a motor pump. The body was recovered by the Tivaouane firefighters, in the presence of gendarmes from the Notto-Gouye-Diama brigade who came to carry out the usual assessment.
Local residents report that many producers in this area of Niayes are using substandard, handcrafted electrical connections to power the agricultural installations in their fields. Moreover, according to another source, a horse that came into contact with defective cables died last Friday in fields located between the villages of Ndiaye Bopp and Thiaye.
