G7 negotiations: The Government provides an update

Négociations avec le G7 : Le Gouvernement fait le point

Following its negotiations with the trade unions gathered within the G7, the Senegalese government has provided an update. It reports having reached an agreement with the unions on the essential points included in the draft protocol, with the exception of certain points deferred to further discussions.

"This includes the expansion of the scope of decree no. 2026-65 of January 27, 2026 relating to decision-makers in the education sector, the issue of their retirement and the tax exemption of back payments.

These points, included in the "Perspectives" section of the draft protocol, will be discussed again on Thursday, April 16, 2026 at 10 a.m.," the government said.

In its statement which concluded the discussions of April 13, 2026, the Government of Senegal reaffirmed its "firm commitment to finding, as soon as possible, a positive outcome to the school crisis."
