Nguekhokh : il simule une agression pour voler 10 millions F CFA, le gérant de multiservices trahi par son WhatsApp deux ans après
S. Pouye, manager of a multi-service business, was arrested after two years on the run. Located by the Thiès Research Section, he was apprehended in Malicounda after making the mistake of reactivating his WhatsApp account.
The case, which caused a stir in Nguékhokh, dates back to August 29, 2024, according to L'Observateur. To conceal a deficit of 6.4 million CFA francs, the manager staged a violent attack in Mbour. His employer, A. Diop, fooled by this charade, accompanied him to the hospital and supported his complaint to the gendarmerie. But faced with the first inconsistencies uncovered by investigators in Saly, S. Pouye fled the very next day, abandoning his family.
The investigation subsequently revealed a wider fraud. In addition to the initial embezzlement, he allegedly defrauded five fellow managers. Under the pretext of providing them with "UVs" (transfer credits), he is said to have extracted sums ranging from 200,000 to 1.5 million CFA francs, bringing the total losses to over 10 million.
After two years on the run between Gambia and Kaolack, the defendant appeared before the Mbour High Court. In court, according to the daily newspaper of the Future Media Group, he attempted to downplay the amounts involved, contesting some of his victims' accusations. The public prosecutor requested a one-year prison sentence. The verdict is expected on April 28.
