The mayor of Nguéniène has strongly condemned the major water supply crisis plaguing his municipality. In an official statement, the mayor described the situation as "unacceptable" for local residents, who are facing prolonged and repeated water cuts.

According to the mayor, some neighborhoods can go up to two days without water. And when it does return, it's often late at night, around 3 a.m., forcing residents to spend sleepless nights trying to access this essential resource. "Entire families are exhausted trying to meet a basic need," he laments.

Paradoxically, this persistent shortage is accompanied by a continuous rise in water bills, exacerbating public discontent. But beyond the material difficulties, it is above all the silence of the relevant authorities that is provoking the mayor's indignation. He is pointing the finger at the complete lack of communication from SEOH (Société d'exploitation des ouvrages hydrauliques), the company in charge of the service.

Faced with this situation, Alpha Samb indicated that he had officially contacted several bodies, including OFOR, the Ministry of Water and Sanitation, as well as the sub-prefect of Sessène, to obtain quick answers and concrete measures to restore a normal supply.

The mayor was adamant: "This situation must end immediately." He reiterated that access to water is a fundamental right, not a privilege, and called for urgent action from the relevant authorities. The mayor affirmed that he would continue his fight "without compromise" until this crisis is fully resolved, on behalf of the people of Nguéniène who, he said, "deserve better."
