Ouagou Niayes : Un étudiant arrêté dans une boutique avec des faux billets de 10 000 F CFA
A student was taken to the Biscuiterie-HLM district police station on Wednesday afternoon after attempting to pass counterfeit banknotes in a shop in the Ouagou Niayes district.
On Monday, May 11, 2026, around 1 p.m., an unidentified customer entered the MK store in Ouagou Niayes to make a purchase. He paid with a 10,000 CFA franc note. The shopkeeper gave him the change without question. Shortly afterward, another customer noticed that the note he had received was counterfeit and immediately returned it to MK.
Alerted, the merchant's nephew, CD, who had recognized the perpetrator of the fraudulent transaction, decided to put the counterfeit bill aside and wait for the suspect to return to the shop.
The following Wednesday, around 2 p.m., the suspect did indeed return to buy drinks. CD immediately alerted his uncle, MK. Together, they apprehended the suspect and took him to the Biscuiterie-HLM district police station.
The latter presents himself as MSD, aged 25, a student residing in Ouagou Niayes 2. When questioned about the origin and use of the counterfeit bills, he admits to having bought three counterfeit 10,000 CFA franc bills for 15,000 CFA francs, or 5,000 CFA francs each according to Seneweb sources.
He was taken into custody for possession and circulation of counterfeit banknotes. An investigation is underway.
