Plainte du ministère de la Santé : Le président du Syndicat des Directeurs d'Écoles Privées de santé écroué par le procureur
Ibrahima Coulibaly, president of the Union of Directors of Private Health Schools, was brought before the Dakar High Court on Thursday, March 26, 2026, for spreading false news and defamation. Placed in pretrial detention, he will be tried immediately next Monday, according to Seneweb sources.
A press conference that sparked the affair
It all started with a press conference held approximately four months ago at the University Institute of Professional Health. At that event, Ibrahima Coulibaly publicly accused the Ministry of Health and Public Hygiene of organizing certification exams in violation of regulations and issuing irregular diplomas, according to the investigation. He also claimed that the ministry was recruiting staff whose diplomas did not meet the required recognition standards, thus exposing the population to health risks.
These statements led the Ministry of Health to take legal action.
Summons, hearing and police custody
On Wednesday, March 25, 2026, the Faidherbe Research Brigade, acting on a warrant, summoned Ibrahima Coulibaly at 12:00 PM. He was questioned that same day and placed in police custody following his hearing.
Before investigators, the accused admitted to making the incriminating statements. He maintained that he acted with the aim of alerting the highest authorities of the State, the President of the Republic and the Prime Minister, to what he described as a situation of persistent confusion in the training of healthcare workers, particularly nurses and midwives.
To support his claims, he cites the legislative and regulatory provisions relating to the LMD system, the certification and recognition of diplomas, arguing that certain practices of the ministry are not in compliance with these texts. He reportedly claimed to have supporting regulatory documents, but without having conducted any further verification. He also reportedly indicated that he did not deem it necessary to correct his statements, considering them to be in accordance with current regulations.
Brought before a judge and remanded in custody
At the conclusion of the investigation, he was brought before the public prosecutor at the High Court of Dakar, who remanded him in custody. According to Seneweb sources, he will be tried next Monday for an offense committed in the act.
