Following a controversial MONCAP Health statement criticizing the dismissal of Prof. Ousmane Cissé, a formal retraction by Dr. Karamba Diallo has upended the narrative: the text was allegedly never approved by the organization's regular governing bodies. The firing of the Director General of Health, Professor Ousmane Cissé, continues to provoke strong reactions, even within structures close to the ruling power. MONCAP Health and Social Protection, affiliated with the PASTEF party, drew attention with a controversial stance that was quickly followed by an internal disavowal. In a statement dated April 15, 2026, the organization expressed its "profound dismay" at what it called a "brutal, incomprehensible decision devoid of any objective basis." The text directly implicated the Minister of Health and Public Hygiene, Dr. Ibrahima Sy, accusing him of pursuing a systematic campaign of destabilization and a policy of gradually excluding certain senior officials from the sector. This statement was promptly challenged by a formal retraction from Dr. Karamba Diallo. He immediately clarified: "I, Dr. Karamba Diallo, pharmacist, member of PASTEF/The Patriots, member of MONCAP Health and Social Protection, wish to share: following the dissemination of a statement attributed to MONCAP Health and Social Protection dated April 15, 2026, I wish to issue a formal retraction, in a spirit of responsibility, humility, and courtesy." He asserts that the document in question "was not subject to any prior consultation or validation within the regular bodies" of the organization. "I inform the public that this statement was not subject to any prior consultation or validation within the regular bodies of MONCAP Health and Social Protection. The vast majority of members were neither informed nor involved in its drafting, let alone in the decision regarding a potential press conference announced for this Friday, April 17, 2026," he specifies. Dr. Diallo maintains that the text reflects "the position of a small group acting on its own initiative" and cannot commit MONCAP as a whole. He adds that several members have expressed their disagreement and astonishment, denouncing a non-inclusive approach contrary to the principles of collective functioning. Reaffirming his commitment to the values of transparency, consultation, and responsibility, he calls for more rigorous communication within the organization. This internal controversy highlights tensions within MONCAP, against a backdrop of disagreements over the management of the health sector and decisions made at the highest levels of the state.
