With the Grand Magal of Touba just months away, scheduled for 18 Safar 1448 AH (corresponding to the beginning of August 2026), administrative authorities are intensifying preparations. In a statement released by the organizing committee, the Prefect of Mbacké, Khadim Hann, announced a departmental development committee (CDD) meeting to be held this Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the Touba town hall.

This meeting follows the local development committee (CLD) meeting held on April 15th. It is part of an ongoing process of consultation and monitoring of the various measures put in place to ensure the smooth running of the major religious event.

The discussions will focus primarily on several sectors deemed strategic: water supply, sanitation, electricity, security, health, hygiene and communication.

According to Sheikh Abdoul Ahad Mbacké, president of the culture and communication commission of the organizing committee of the Grand Magal of Touba, this meeting will allow us to assess the progress of the measures already taken, to identify persistent difficulties and to strengthen coordination between the various actors involved in the organization of the Magal.

The Grand Magal of Touba, which commemorates the departure into exile of Cheikh Ahmadou Bamba, brings together several million faithful each year from Senegal and abroad, under the aegis of the general khalifa of the Mourides, Serigne Cheikh Mouhamadou Mountakha Mbacké.

The organizing committee will also take part in this important meeting through a large delegation led by its coordinator, Serigne Ousmane Mbacké Gaïndé Fatma.
